The Past is complicated. It has sweetness as well as ugly bits; all integral to your character & how you see the world. Here we look at the influence of family, of parents, grandparents, etc and  their effect on your life’s journey. Their stories provide a greater understanding of where we came from, who we are & where our paths may lead. Avenoir is a melancholy, wistful desire that memories could flow backward giving one a chance to appreciate where you’ve been, how you got there & the people that made it all possible. However, in this position it calls to your fear of memories from the past flowing into your future. It’s appearance encourages you to view the past from a different and hopefully, matured perspective.  Avenoir is a healing card urging you to understand the role the past is playing in the direction you’re heading and surrender by making peace with it.  Rather than fearing the weight of its legacy, it’s possible to appreciate the beauty of your origin story by being grateful for any inherited qualities or gifts -especially those that provide reassurance & strength during times of change. And so, you chose freedom from the pain of being bound by your own personal stuff  that comes when one is solely focused on the disappointments, hurt & “dead things” from the past; the things that steal the sweetness from today & make difficulties moving forward.  There’s a real sense of blossoming or entering into a new chapter. If there’s residual concerns of forgiveness from past familial estrangements, try to come to a place of harmony with them now as you may need help in the form of protection & guidance. Here their presence is a bonus. The Witch is a lucky card & when drawn, situations turn in your favor. Are you being reminded of how lucky you are to have your family to share new adventures with? Or to have their support after periods of loss?  Or to feel the spiritual influence of ancestors in the form of a talent for cooking or a gift for numbers?  With the Witch, they may even be communicating guidance through signs, dreams or a voice in your head. Whether they are still alive or have passed to spirit, their presence still has a marked effect on your life’s journey and stand with you as life unveils what’s coming.
