Uruz, a rune of strength, determination & survival, taught us the importance of asserting our will to claim our home, boundaries, personal space, independence & freedom. Not through uncontrolled aggression, but through the deliberate presence of our conviction to choose freedom & the ability to make freewill choices that shape our individual futures. It’s the rune of the Inner King/Queen, granting maturity, wisdom & sovereignty as we enter a new chapter. 2025 marked a time of change requiring ironlike qualities for challenging times, where we had to tap into our reserves when circumstances demand endurance & determination. Uruz is our inherent, raw, and primal power—the power behind manifestation and a reminder of our resilience. We're learning to control it rather than letting it control us. As a result, we were blessed with the ability to exhibit emotional maturity & patience under trying circumstances.  We were able to find or provide a safe harbor when needed, discovering compassion & an acceptance of human limitations. We learned the importance of diplomacy, knowing there's influential power when one can understand & work with all types of people without falling into emotional reactions or impulsive responses. This trait will be needed to navigate the ups and downs 2026 promises. Both Wheel of Fortune & Thurisaz speak of forces outside our control—fated forces we're compelled to endure, karmic events that can pave the way for good things in the future. While there may be elements where it feels as if history is repeating itself, we are entering a new era, moving in a different direction-most definitely. We'll need to draw upon the emotional maturity and strength of self-control cultivated in 2025, as these will be the traits needed to adapt & defend ourselves against the main energy of 2026. Rune Thurisaz presents both attack & defense, and there will be inevitable storms & conflicts arriving, bringing obstacles that we must break down. These are not by chance but part of our evolution. Confronting these challenges will demand we rely on our unique talents & traits, as well as our resilience, to steer the smoothest course for ourselves. Representing both the danger that threatens us & the power we have to defend ourselves, these are trials that test and strengthen us. Shaped like a sharp thorn, Thurisaz symbolizes the wisdom of choosing a defensive stance, of taking measures to deter potential attackers from trying to harm or take advantage of you—rather than rushing to attack an adversary. If a necessary confrontation must come, let us approach it from a neutral, rational place rather than explosive emotion. We will find that chaos is necessary for transformation; prepare accordingly.

Ingwaz, a rune of patient development and hidden potential signifies a profoundly fertile time where developing plans and efforts gather strength beneath the surface. Like a seed in soil, all your stored energy is collecting, building incrementally, and preparing to eventually burst forth -to be realized in its fullest potential.  During this incubation period, a Cosmic bit of insight is received, represented by “Higher Power” unlocking a profound moment of understanding and clarity. This incoming gift bridges the gap between logic and intuition, serving the answer to a question or a validation to something felt on a gut level. This December calls for us to receive with gratitude the joy of the 4 of Wands. It's a time to celebrate with friends, family, and those around us, opening ourselves to community and genuine connection. Recent times have been dark; a lightening of spirit would be welcomed. Perhaps you may receive a surprise encounter that generates a thrill or injects new energy in your life. Give yourself the freedom to take advantage of this time —to get caught up in the holiday spirit and enjoy the company of others. Truly appreciating the season with passion, excitement, and authentic happiness. You'll get more out of it than you might realize. What we need to give is expressed as the 5 of Pentacles: The Gift of Charity. This is the season of thinking of others who go without or struggle to get by. Extend your care, attention, resources to those experiencing loss or hard times. Simply extending your time to those who are losing hope may be the saving grace they’re searching for. Again, I say, you may get more of it than you may realize. A lightbulb moment occurs; one of expanding clarity about what you find personally valuable, highlighted by the 10 of cups. A card of great satisfaction and fulfillment—one that broadens our sense of connection to all in our circle and awakens us to just how blessed and lucky we truly are. Contentment is sorely underrated. There’s nothing else we could want, but this moment, right now.

Where can one be adaptable? Knight of Swords:
While your words can be like a "breath of fresh air", some may not appreciate their frankness or blunt honesty. Developing a keener emotional awareness & sensitivity can soften the sharp edges of your communication without dulling its impact. Can you effectively get your point across without sounding preachy, imposing your point of view, or overriding the ideas of others? When problem solving, can you confidently assert yourself while minding the potential pointedness of your words? The focus is always on the greater need, not just being right.

Areas of massive expansion: 9 of Wands

Increased awareness of where you'll need to be more protective of your energy. You are expanding the boundary of what you can presently see—beyond its current limits. This widening aperture may come under attack & need defending. The more you see, the more you are seen— the greater the possibility for attack. Defend what you know & keep it safe. There will be more reason to use discernment, discretion, & discipline.

The development of your inner power & confidence through discipline & inner control. The secret: One can bend the world to their will—not through force, but through charm, cleverness, & perseverance. The one who can remain quiet & calm in a situation controls it. Anger is the enemy of a calm mind.

A mind in alignment with Divine Will can bring forth abundance. Many ideas & inspirations are quickening, wanting to burst through & be made manifest. The Empress is the portal between the world of Divine inspiration & physicality. Burning bright in the dark, these ideas are full of hope & ready to offer the world what it needs. When the time comes, deliver them in their most natural & organic form—without alteration or worry about the result. Just get them out there.
