May 2023 Readings

Guidance for May 28, 2023:
“7th House Diplomacy or Open Enemies”

May 28 2023.jpg

Theme: In Libra

What will help? The Queen

What will hinder? The Knight

The unrealized potential:

If Balanced: Cheerfulness

If Unbalanced: Medusa

This week speaks to the balance, cooperation & mutual “give & take” in relationships that create a shared feeling of joy & enjoyment.  In Libra, we are focused on the beauty of fairness in dealing with your partner or other intimate relationships especially in regard to decision making. The Queen, emotionally confident, is a supportive co-regent in her kingdom. In life, she leads with balanced wisdom & loyalty always listening with a sympathetic, compassionate & wise ear to each side of a situation.  That said, she still demands a mutually respectful exchange in her dealings. She reminds you to remember to stay loyal to those closest to you never allowing another to disrespect, belittle or insult your house. Striking first with a harsh, cutting word will have you witness a less mature response from this Queen. In fact, you’ll see the monster appear. Medusa never forgets. She’ll hold a grudge & punish you for it. Feelings of being hurt & wanting to hurt in return for being unfairly persecuted for something that was not one’s fault. To maintain a harmonious balance in relationships, one has to be conscious of where we are armoring up in defensiveness as well as being careful not to be quick to jump in a fight. Lashing out at others because you’ve been hurt yourself will allow bitterness & spitefulness to enter, corrupting a once beautiful bond. If maturity can be maintained, challenges can be overcome producing a favorable outcome.  Being in sync, creates a good mood that permeates all aspects of life together. Certainly a reason to celebrate when you can put all past disagreements behind you letting bygones be bygones.

Guidance for May 21, 2023: “Clearing the Air”

May 23 2023.jpg

Theme: The Harlequin (True Feelings Masked)

Do this: Communicate (St John’s Wort)

Don’t do this: Purification (Burdock)

This week speaks to someone in your life masking how they really feel in order to deal with everyday life. The Harlequin is concealing a sadness derived from loneliness or a broken heart; tragic feelings are being hidden.  Someone is not being truthful about their emotional state. There’s one face for public and worn as a “way of just getting through” while in private they are suffering from something very dark. St John’s wort is an herb typically used for depression & anxiety, so I feel it points to that. Surrounding people may be sensing something is off with this person but are walking away instead of getting to the heart of the matter. There’s a fear of confrontation. You are being reminded to pay attention to the sensations you are feeling in your body & listen to your inner voice that is telling you there’s a conflict that requires more attention from you in regard to this masked person. Rather than dismiss, banish, or sweep these “red flags” under the carpet, seek out more information. You are encouraged to clear the air and not chalk their behavior up to something other than what it really is. Speak up & make sure you are clearly heard. This will not be easy as St. John’s Wort is also carried to strengthen one’s courage when confronting nasty situations. Their resistance to reveal will be strong and darkness can have a very strong grip.

Interesting that St. John’s wort is also used for banishing spirits & demons, exorcism, and protecting against all forms of black magic.

Guidance for May 14, 2023:
“Hope Springs Eternal from a Sober Mind”

May 14 2023.jpg

Theme: Hope

Strength: Temperance Reversed

Weakness: Empress Reversed

Advice: 9 of Swords Reversed

The theme this week speaks to the struggle to find hope when one is at a low point in life, utterly overwhelmed by their private despair. Whether for yourself or for someone close to you, someone is unable to cope after their worst nightmare has come true. Although you may put on a brave smile for the world, you suffer in silence.  This isolating self-punishment needs to be brought to light and shared perhaps with a professional. With three cards in reverse, two being Major Arcana, we have something seriously off balance in our private & personal life. You’ve been cutting yourself on things you did not have any control over. All leading to a spiritual crisis and having your ideals shattered. Your strength lies in realizing something has been seriously off with you; that things are not blending well as they could or should & some profound self-healing is in order. This reflects a need for self-evaluation in which you can re-examine your life priorities and get yourself back on track & into the flow of life once again. The Empress in Reverse speaks to the weakness of overindulgence in material sensual comforts: food, drink and addictions of any kind that may feel good in the moment but are emotionally & physically draining and depression or anxiety inducing. Perhaps there’s been too much indulgence in alcohol and you may need 100% abstinence to break this negative cycle and bring your life back into balance again. Both Temperance & The 9 of Swords in reverse supports you getting your priorities in order and getting help from those stronger than you. A sober mind will be needed to look ahead at the possibilities life has in store. You may need to change something in your daily life (relationships, career, habits) so you can develop more equilibrium and purpose in line with these emerging new priorities. A clear-headedness to be able to cultivate a desire to consider the possibility to see your life differently; that beauty is possible.

Guidance for May 7, 2023: “Persistent Communications”

May 7 2023.jpg

Theme: The Letter

Focus: Reflection (Lemon Balm)

Avoid: Endurance (Ginseng)

Learn: Lugh (Persistence)

The Letter speaks to reaching out and initiating conversations with those who you have had a falling out with. This led to a significant strain if not a temporary end to this relationship and a response to this situation is long overdue. You are encouraged to let them know how you feel.  The Reflection card asks us to take a long look & self-reflect upon what has transpired but be careful not to fall into melancholy thinking that it’s gone past the point of no return.  Lugh encourages us to stop procrastinating & take action. Avoid letting hurts go on longer than they need to. Lugh, the Celtic Sun God of thunderstorms, provides help from painful situations by discharging the charged atmosphere by clearing the air.  Speak up and have those conversations now. Enough time has passed between you both and the more time goes by, the harder it will be to mend fences creating more challenges. But how do you go about it? Both Lemon Balm & Ginseng are represented by Jupiter, the planet of charity, gratitude, & good will however Lemon Balm is Jupiter in Cancer & Ginseng in Scorpio. One is sensitive, open-minded, and compassionate the other can be strong willed, sarcastic and intense. Focus on the sweetening power of Lemon Balm. Its magic has been used in spells to heal broken hearts, friendships & attract romantic love.  In teas, to ease the personal pain of breakups and to transmit messages between lovers. To repair injuries to interpersonal relationships one must be committed to making sincere amends and always come from a compassionate heart-centered place. Messages transmitted must be devoid of sarcasm, bitterness, and competition. Avoid the stimulating magic of Ginseng by not “one-upping”, keeping score, and getting this person going by “letting them know what time it is”. Have a strong faith that things will work out and & don’t give up on these relationships just yet. Lugh teaches you to stay the course, have persistent action & hold a positive attitude when trying to repair damaged relationships. Although this upset may have tested your faith, it presented an opportunity to evolve & will guide you to a greater wisdom-even if the path or the details to that are unclear at the moment.
